This poem was written by Julie Mason:

What are my experiences in your goodness,
My realization of your love?

When do I find a reason to awe in this love
That stands as a suitor
And rivals for my affection
Against tangible love encounters I have on this earth?
What are the moments
That I see you in your glory
And feel the triumph of the victory
You have secured for me?

Do I see the answer in a view atop a mountain,
In the vast expanse that reveals the measure
Of your all-encompassing nature?
Yes, I do.
Do I see it even more in a peaceful moment
With the ones I use
To define me as mother and wife?
Yes, I do.

I cannot deny
You are lavishing me with goodness
In the time we have to live this life with one another.
Yet, do I see it in the tumultuous sea,
A circumstance I am thrown into?
It tosses me
Until I feel that I have fallen from your reach.
Yes, I do.

This fortunate,
Yes, fortunate experience
Gives me a chance to love you
More than life itself.
When life is the people and things on earth
That consume my affection.

Yes, I will learn to love you more than life,
A love driven by a deep realization of my desperate situation.
You are greatly, fiercely, bringing me to you one tragedy,
One beautiful sunset, at a time.
As you are in all and fill all
You will be found—
A discovery that is always true
To your character and promises.

You will not calm the storm—
It is raging with your movement,
Unsettled by your desire
To change my love of self.
The love you display in your waves
Speaks louder than the peaceful shore
Where I can rest
And be content with where I am.

On the beautiful mountain I will praise in you,
But I will see your love in the tumultuous sea.
To it I will cling,
Not to preserve my life
But to discover this choice
You have made toward me,
Choice love
That I could never come to on my own.

Furl this love to my back
And send me out to sea again,
There is more to be seen.
Pursuing revelation instead of living in fear.
To learn more and more,
My picture of you grows.
Even in its partial form,
Where I am now, I am in awe.

Choice love is love in perfection,
And from it I must not hide
