We were privileged to hear a message from John Cross, the author of The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus and many other excellent books.  He gave us a background on GoodSeed International, which is a publisher and missions organization; their goal is to explain the Bible in a way that will make sense to those lacking Scriptural foundations.  He shared stories with us how God has been using some of their books in other countries.  Praise the Lord the Gospel is being spread!

In John's message, he reminded us of our identity in Christ.  After the creation and fall of man, sin contaminated man’s bloodline, and since then, everyone has been born a sinful being (Genesis 2).  Because of this, everyone will die.  Revelation 20 says anyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life will be cast into the Lake of Fire (vs. 15).  According to 1 Corinthians 15:22, we are all born into the “in Adam” family, meaning born into sin; however, there is another family we can join called the “in Christ” family.  How do we do to join it?  Go to church every week?  Read the Bible?  Stop doing the wrong things?  No, we can only come into Christ's family through His cross and tomb.

In Romans 5:12 it tells us death came into the world through sin (inherited through Adam) and it affects every person.  Because of our sin, we deserve to dwell in the “in Adam” family forever, but we were shown undeserved kindness or grace: God Himself came in the person of Jesus Christ, went to the cross, allowed himself to be killed, and died to pay the eternal penalty each of was facing.  If you recognize that and take God at His word by believing that message, you can join the “in Christ” family and have a new identity.

Once we are a part of the “in Christ” family, we can’t pop over to the “in Adam” family for a little while to visit; we have completely left that life behind.  Embrace your new identity and live in the family you belong.

If you are reading this and it puzzles you, please contact us.  We would love to explain and show you from the Bible how you can be a part of Christ’s family.  Father, if there is someone who doesn’t understand these truths, please give them the courage to seek out the answers you provide.
