Behind the Music
This past Sunday was the third week of Advent. Each Sunday we have celebrated Advent together by reading Scripture, lighting the Advent Wreath, and singing a song that follows our theme Prepare Him Room. This week the Advent song was called Who would have Dreamed. It is based off of Micah 5:1-2 which proclaims,
Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops; siege is laid against us;
with a rod they strike the judge of Israel on the cheek.
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.
The song has some fantastic lyrics; one of my favorite lines is "He will carry our curse and death He’ll reverse, so we can be daughters and sons." I love these words because they carry such weighty yet poetic truth in such a small phrase. You can find the rest of the lyrics and learn more about the project here.
